Polish Saber Seminar in CDSW

We would like to invite you to an upcoming seminar of Historical European Martial Arts organised by Silkfencing Team in Centrum Dawnych Sztuk Walki (Center of Historical Martial Arts) in Warsaw!

Under the eye of a proffesional you will be able to learn basics and develop technique of historical Polish saber. It is one of the few possibilities to learn this Polish national weapon.

PROFILE OF THE CLASSES

Seminar will be for both beginners and advanced, allowing you to understand the basic and develop them. It will be the first of the series of seminars planned this year. You can sign for the seminar even if you had no previous experience in that weapon or you are an experienced user or HEMA fighter.

We will be speaking bilingual. English and Polish. The instructor can also speak German and French for communication purposes.

POLISH SABER AND THE "MATURE" SYSTEM

Saber is a weapon that evolved quite early, yet its basic development starts around XVth century. Even though its very short time of development, it began to be one of the most dominant cavalry weapons. Its versatility and diversity had no match in the world. As well it was taught in so many systems, which developed all over the world.

Polish Saber is one of those untypical schools, which along with many other systems from the eastern Europe shaped through connection of the Eastern and Western mechanics. Polish fencing had as well its own specific style, which differs it from e.g. Hungarian or Turkish school.

Mature system is connected to an era, when through influence of German  sword, Italian rapier and Turkish, Caucasian and Hungarian saber, a very mechanically consistent school was created. It has developed its own unique techniques, as our moulinet or a very well known system of cuts or false blade work.

PLAN

Seminar will last 6hrs with a 30 minutes break and several short breaks.

EQUIPMENT

Each attendant may bring his own equipment, yet it would be not necessary, as we will support you with our own equipment, which would be both synthetics and protection, that would be necessary. If you do will borrow the mask, for aesthetically purposes you will be asked to take a hat or anything to cover your head before putting on the mask.

VENUE

Entire event will take place in a specific and nice location near the Warsaw city center. Center of Historical Martial Arts (CDSW - Centrum Danych Sztuk Walki) is on Kolejowa 8c.

The cost of entire seminar is 100 PLN per person. To register you simply need to send us an email, where you will receive all the further information. There would be 20 PLN of entrance fee.
